Accredited Learning Programmes:

The outdoor environment offers a vast array of experiences for all ages and abilities and it is widely agreed that the potential for learning in this environment, for many, is highly beneficial towards their outcomes. The outdoor activity sector has over recent years introduced various types of accredited learning into programmes that include nationally recognised certification.

Capro are able to offer accreditation of various types and levels. There are many personal and social outcomes that are automatically developed throughout and these sit well within the “Curriculum for Excellence” capacities, such as, successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

We provide flexible, personalised learning opportunities with appropriate recognition. The types of accreditation Capro can offer are as follows:

Dynamic Youth Award
Youth Achievement Award
Duke of Edinburgh Award
John Muir Trust Award
NICAS Indoor Climbing Award
SCA Kayak & Canoe Star Award

YNSA Young Navigator Star Award

Team Building courses:

Perhaps you have a group of youngsters or staff that are lacking the skills and knowledge of working together efficiently? During the activities there will be a strong emphasis on the requirements within a group, what is required for a group to work well together and how to further develop these skills. These days can be half or full day events, incorporating problem solving activities and hard skills activity, each is tailored to suit the group. For further information regarding staff team building sessions see "Team Building Leaflet 09".

Outdoor Activity Skills Development:

Some groups prefer to complete a few sessions of a single activity type, such as climbing, kayaking or navigation this allows a measurable development and allows participants to obtain accreditation in a particular sporting activity.

Residential Experience:

Capro are able to organise a variety of residential possibilities from one or more nights stay.Courses can include a wide variety of activities and can include any variation of aims and outcomes. A residential stay can be organised relatively locally or as far away as the highlands. This could be a wild camping experience or a stay in self catering accommodation.

For further information about the award see www.jmt.org

Dynamic Youth 8 – 14yrs and Youth Achievement Awards 14yrs and above:

The Dynamic Youth and the Youth Achievement Awards are an activity-based approach to peer education. The Awards are designed to help develop more effective participative practice by encouraging young people to progressively take more responsibility in selecting, planning and leading activities that are based on their interests. The peer group model encourages the development of a wide range of life skills through a flexible and informal approach. Groups wishing to complete youth achievement awards will need to be on a programme of at least 8 sessions. YAA also require groups to complete tasks that are not necessarily outdoor orientated, also a certain amount of work will need to be carried out by the groups supporting staff members. For further information about the award see www.youthscotland.org.uk
